Hello and welcome to our blog post.

We hope you enjoy reading about our week.
We have had so much fun at The Acorns.
This week our letter of the week has been Bb.
We sang some very silly songs about things that begin with the letter and the children all had a go at writing the letter on the new white board.
We went for a lovely walk down to the village and found all sorts of treasure on the way.
We popped into the Greengrocers to buy some duck food and headed down to the pond.

We were surprised to see 6 baby Goslings on the pond, happily swimming around with their parents.

They were very fluffy and very cute.
We also saw some big fish swimming to the surface of the pond.

On the way back we stopped to look at flowers and plants growing in gardens, looked at cars, house numbers and drain covers. There is always something exciting to see and chat about.

We noticed that some of the houses on the lane are having work done and we saw some men loading up a cement mixer. It was quite exciting !
The children love chatting to people as they pass by and we always greet people with a cheerful ‘Good Morning’
We have spent lots of time in the garden this week. Its been a lovely week and the sun has been shining.

The children have been learning about VE Day and why it is an important day.
We made flags and cakes.

Mrs Finney let us borrow some very special items that belong to her uncle.
There was a ration book, a hat and belt and some amazing medals to look at.

Thank you to Mrs Finney for sharing them with us.
We have been busy preparing some art work to be displayed in the library. Mrs Irwin will be putting it up next week and we hope you will find some time to go and visit.
Every child has done a picture.

Mrs Drake found something special growing in her garden at home and brought it in to show the children.
Can you guess what it it?

As always, there were lots of opportunities for digging & planting this week.
Lots of plants & flowers needed watering as we have had such sunny weather.

We have noticed that our rhubarb is growing and its taking up most of the space in our planting spot.
We planted some courgettes this week and had to choose another area of the garden for them as there just wasn't enough space in our usual spot.
We might make something yummy next week with some of the rhubarb. Does anyone have any recipe suggestions?
We must say a huge Thank you to Mona (Carters Mummy) who cooked for us on Friday.
Mona runs Rzari Foods.
You might remember we celebrated Nowruz a little while back which is the Iranian New Year and the beginning of Spring time.
We talked to the children about the celebration and learnt about the Haft Sin table.
Perhaps you could ask the children about what sits on the symbolic table and if they need a prompt you could ask about an apple (Seeb)
All of the things that sit on the table begin with the letter S.
Mona hosts the amazing Persian Supper Clubs in the village and we can whole heartedly recommend booking.
Its a wonderful evening with delicious, fresh, homecooked, made with love food and excellent wine specially paired to the dishes.
Please follow Mona on Insta to see her passionate journey to create wonderful memorable moments with food.
