Hello and welcome to our blog post.
We hope you enjoy reading about our week.
This week our story was 'Handa's Surprise'

We have read the book each day with the children and they have enjoyed learning all about Handa and her life in Kenya.
We have done lots of fun activities relating to the story.
We enjoyed a lovely walk into the village to look at all the beautiful Autumn window displays.
The children walked so well and listened carefully.
We enjoyed rustling through the leaves with our feet and listening to them crunch.

We talked about all of the fruit that Handa had in her basket and wondered what things we could make with the fruits.
We decided that banana muffins would be a good idea.

The children helped to weigh out the ingredients and to combine them in a big bowl.

The muffins turned out really well and the children were so excited to take them home.
Well done little chefs !
We got our big box of animals out to see if we had any of the animals that are in the book.
We found 6 giraffes !
We counted them, put them into size order and even tried to stack them into a giraffe tower.
On Wednesday we sorted out our play food into two baskets. Fruit and other foods.
We tried balancing a basket on our head ... it was tricky !

We looked for Africa on our map.
It is very far away from where we live ... We thought about how we might travel to Africa.
Boat, Plane, Car, Train ?

We handed around a spiky pineapple for the children to explore and then enjoyed eating it together. It was delicious.

On Thursday we had a very special circle time using props to support the story.

We plan to make a huge antelope and the children made a start by painting a big box, this continued on friday.
We didn't use paint ... we used mud !

Here are a selection of other photos ...

We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week.
Next week we will be celebrating Diwali, Halloween and our story will be Room on the Broom.
We hope you will bring in a carved pumpkin for us to display.
Have a wonderful weekend.
