Hello Everyone.

Thank you for visiting our blog page.

We have had a wonderful week at The Acorns 25.

Our theme this week is 'Community Roles'

We talked about the role of a Doctor.

The children were able to tell us that they work in the Dr Surgery and help to look after people when they are sick.

We know where the surgery is as we sometimes help in the garden there and visit often on our walks.

We looked through the items in our toy Dr's kit and were able to name many of the items inside.

"I know what this is ..... a telescope" VB

"I went to the Dr when i hurt my head." VC

We then looked at our real first aid kit and talked about what the item might be used for.

We went for a lovely walk to the Dr Surgery and checked on our garden. We noticed a huge tree has been cut down and Mrs Neve chatted to a man in the carpark about it. He said the tree was 100 years old !

We are looking forward to the spring time when we can go and do some work in the garden.

We like to make it look nice to cheer people up who are feeling poorly when visiting the surgery.

On our walk we looked carefully at the shops, thinking about their role in the community.

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful high street.

We saw the post office where we can post letters and parcels, the pharmacy where we can get things to make us feel better, food shops, clothes shops and even a toy shop.

"My mum bought me a toy in there"

We made marmalade with Mrs Neve.

"Knives are sharp, you have to be very careful." LS

"This orange has pips, that one doesn't. They are different." MB

"I want to use the squeezer again." GK

Here are a selection of other photos for you to see.

Mrs Franks attended a network meeting with West Sussex for Designated Safeguarding Leads on Wednesday evening.

We were talking about ways in which we can promote having an open safeguarding culture within the nursery and in partnership with our parents.

Safeguarding the children is our highest priority and we must all work together.

We have an open door policy here and can offer a safe space to discuss any concerns or thoughts.

Mrs Franks and Mrs Irwin are the Designated Safeguarding Leads for The Acorns.

Feb 10th is Safer Internet day – We will be sharing some useful links on Whatsapp.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week.

Thank you for taking the time.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Mrs Franks and The Acorns Team.
