Here is a selection of photos from our very cold and snowy week at Westmeston. Our focus for the week was maths. We played a game to help us identify our feelings. Fun in the snow! We celebrated Chinese Lunar New Year. Our Friday walk was very icy, but at least the sun shone on us.
It certainly felt like spring was in the air at Westmeston this week. All around our garden, spring flowers are blooming - daffodils, crocuses, snowdrops and primroses. We challenged the children to see how many different coloured flowers they could find and it was decided upon five; white, yellow, pink, purple and orange berries. What a glorious week! It feels like spring has arrived at The Acorns. When we arrived on Monday we were greeted with soo many beautiful flowers. Mrs Irwin's kitchen looked like a florist. She had lots of tulips and daffodils for us to look at and enjoy. We decided it would be fun to make our own daffodil pictures which we have now displayed in the kitchen. This week has been all about numbers and shapes. We spent lots of time observing shapes and measuring things - particularly focusing on one of our favourite stories, Jack and the Beanstalk! We planted one of the beans we found in the garden, and enjoyed listening and reading the story. Welcome to our blog post This week our focus has been Literacy – Reading. We have enjoyed reading many books this week – including some that the children brought in from home. We read books everyday at The Acorns during circle times, 1:1 reading and in our quiet time. Mrs Irwin has a huge selection of children's books.
