Hello and welcome to our blog post.

We hope you enjoy reading about our week.

This week our focus has been around the book ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’

We have done lots of fun activities and have really enjoyed learning about the characters in the book.

We introduced the story to the children and Mrs Finney brought some fabulous props for us to look at.

She dressed up wearing the giants clothes as she read the story.

She had a shirt, a tie, some giant shoes, a belt … It was very funny.

We all laughed so much.

We had cuddly toy animals from the story and loved playing with them afterwards.

We all got to try on the giants shoes.

Even our cuddlies got to try on the shoes.

We tried to walk across a belt - just like the dog who was crossing the bog.

We used the big blocks outside to build our own bridge to help us cross the squelchy bog.

We had to use our balancing skills to walk across the planks.

Superhero soup was on the menu and we all helped to prepare and chop up the vegetables.

The teachers told us that all of the ingredients in the soup have superpowers which will help to make us strong, fast, smart .. just like real superheroes.

We used peelers, listening carefully to instructions so we could learn to use them safely.

We did some painting on foil - We loved how it turned out.

Mrs Irwin noticed whilst walking down the lane that her shadow looked huge ... just like a giant !

So we all went out to see what our shadows would be like.

We loved waving our arms around and stomping our feet watching our shadow on the lane.

Tower building indoors and out.

We tried to make a house that would be big enough for a giant to live in.

Great for positional language - on top of, beside, next to, underneath

We walked on stilts to be as tall as the giant in our book.

It was a bit wobbly to begin with but we gained confidence and speed !
