Hello and welcome to our blog post.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our week.
We hope you enjoy reading about what we have been up to and seeing our photos.
This week our story has been *Dear Zoo*
We introduced the story on Monday to the children and chatted about the animals and why they might not be a good idea to have them as pets.
"An elephant is too big."
"It might fit in my garden ... I have a big garden."
"A frog might jump in to a pond."
"I don't have a tree for a monkey in my house."
We all agreed that a puppy would make the best pet out of the animals in the book.
What pets do you have at home?
We had fun in the garden making some giraffe pictures - the children used their fingers to print the giraffes markings and used stickers for their eyes.
They used a pen to draw the mouths.
We were all fascinated to learn what colour a giraffes tongue is.
"A giraffe would bump its head on the ceiling."
"My daddy is taller than a giraffe."
"They eat leaves."

It was a very sunny day so we had lots of time in the garden.
We had fun with the big trucks, driving them around the garden. BEEP BEEP !
We went on bug hunts and used magnifying glasses - We found lots of spiders on webs.

On Tuesday we made our own pizza for lunch.
The children rolled out their dough and topped their pizza with their favourite toppings.
Cheese, Ham, Peppers, Tomato, Pepperoni ...

We were so excited to eat our lunch.

The pizzas were delicious.
Well done little chefs !

Empty plates all round today and then we enjoyed lovely fruit bowls for pudding.
We read the story again and played sleepy bunnies - but changed the song to the animals that are in the book.
We all stomped around like elephants, slithered like snakes and jumped like frogs.
In the garden we sailed on the pirate ship and searched for treasure.
"Land ahoy!"
"We need a telescope to see better."
"I can see an island."
Mrs Girt did some music and movement with us and we pretended to be in a band using the musical instruments.
We experimented with the sounds we could make.
On Wednesday we spent lots of time in the garden.
It was another lovely sunny day so we have been spending as much time as possible outside.
We were really hungry after using all of our energy in the garden and we really enjoyed our yummy homemade lasagne for lunch.
Mrs Franks sneaked some extra veggies into the lasagne, blitzing some carrots and courgettes into the sauce.
We also had homemade garlic bread which went down really well.

We did some more mark making - talking lots about the animals that are in our story of the week.

On Thursday the children helped to make a delicious rhubarb crumble which we had after lunch.
We picked the last of the rhubarb from our garden and the children got to work in the kitchen.
We used our special child safe knives to chop it up into pieces.
The children listened well to instructions and used the knives with care.

On Friday we were so pleased to have Mrs Finney with us again for the day.
She always teaches us new songs and she tells us wonderful stories.
We celebrated our friends 4th Birthday which was lovely.
The children all joined in to sing Happy Birthday and we shared some caterpillar cake after lunch.
Happy Birthday A !
Here are a few extra photos from our week.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Mrs Franks and The Acorns Team.
