Week Commencing 3rd July 2017 - Westmeston

The highlight of this week had to be Sports Day. We enjoyed having picnics with our families and playing with our friends before taking part in the races. It was a lovely sunny day and it was so lovely to see so many people.

On Thursday we unearthed our potatoes. We were so excited. It was a bit like digging up treasure. We counted 22 potatoes. We remembered that, “Morris the Monster grows them in his underpants!” We grew them in a container but maybe we should try that next year! We picked more raspberries but found too many to count.

We looked at the roots of pumpkin plants before we planted them. We hoped that they would be big enough to survive being nibbled by slugs and rabbits.

We painted lovely pictures this week and we have played with clay. Some of us made faces on the trees. Some of us discovered that we could make prints by pressing the clay onto the knobbly bark. Jemima used her clay to make a ball to play tennis with!

We took our shoes and socks off and paddled in the water play!

Our traditional story this was The Little Red Hen. We looked at real wheat and talked about how

we could turn the wheat into flour. We made pizza on Friday and chose our own toppings. Unlike the Little Red Hen, we all helped each other to weigh, mix and knead the dough. We were surprised at how much the dough grew when we left it. It was a lovely feeling playing with the flour and the dough. We had our pizzas for lunch. We also ate the potatoes that we picked on Thursday. They were yummy!

Conker sheep is off to Sam’s house after spending time with Matilda. I wonder where he will go for the holidays?

It's our last week next week and we are looking forward to the Leaver's Party. We're going to be dressing up. Don't forget that Lindfield is closed on Friday and the Friday Lindfield children will be coming to play with us.

Please look out for any lost property.

See you next week!
