Welcome to our blog post.

We hope you enjoy reading about our week.

This week our theme has been ‘My favourite foods.’

We have spent lots of time chatting about foods and how they can help to keep us healthy and well.

We know that food gives us energy and we need lots of energy to be able to play and explore all day.

We made our own soup for lunch - the children used the child safe knives to chop up the vegetables into small chunks.

They were able to identify most of the vegetables we used.

"That is a leek."

"I love potatoes."

The children enjoyed making a collage, adding pictures from magazines onto a paper plate.

“Oooh, I love carrots.”

“I am going to stick on a cookie.”

“I like apples but I don’t like bananas.”

"The glue is sticky."

We made some yummy banana muffins to have at snack time.

We have the best banana muffin recipe that has never failed us – if you would a copy please just ask.

It makes the most delicious muffins!

We played some sorting games – sorting foods into sets.

Fruits, vegetables, meats.

This is something the children might like to do at home or whilst out shopping.

There was a bit of confusion between fruits and vegetables.

The children have enjoyed helping out in the kitchen each day – they have been spreading, stirring and mixing, chopping and grating. Well done little chefs !

We made cheese scones with Mrs Neve.

The children followed a recipe and measured out the ingredients.

They rolled out the dough and used cutters to stamp out circle shapes before adding some extra cheese on top and baking.

They were delicious !

We enjoyed a group game of  ‘Grandma went shopping’

The children were really focused and engaged. It was so much fun.

We enjoyed lots of time in the garden this week.

We painted using conkers – we added our paper and some paint into a tray, dropped some conkers on top and rolled them around in the tray. The pictures are lovely.

We haven’t been able to find many conkers on our travels so far this year.

If you come across any we would love you to collect some for the nursery.

We use them for so many things that its handy to have a big stock to last us the year. Thank you.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week at The Acorns.

Did you know that you can leave a comment at the bottom of this post?

Scroll down and you will find a comment box. We would love to hear your thoughts, what your children have particularly enjoyed and what stories they have shared at home about our activities.

Have a wonderful weekend.
