Week commencing 5th October 2026 - Acorns 25.
Hello and welcome to our weekly blog post.
We hope you enjoy reading about all of the things we have been doing this week at The Acorns 25.
We enjoyed a lovely walk to the park together.
The children walked well and listened carefully to our instructions on the way to help keep them safe.
We had lots of fun at the park using all of the play equipment and running around.
We went on the slide, swings and roundabouts.
We also did lots of climbing and balancing.

We had our snack at the park and all sat on a lovely blanket together.
Mrs Manningham brought in a giant leaf from her banana plant. It was HUGE.
The children thought of different words to describe the size of the leaf.
Massive, gigantic, big, enormous … Can you think of any other words?
We talked about where other fruits grow and used lots of descriptive language.

During our chats about our favourite foods the children all agreed that everyone loved cheese, so we decided to make some yummy cheese scones with Mrs Neve.
The children helped to weigh out the ingredients, combine them together and then roll out the dough.
They turned out so well and the children were very excited to eat them.

The children collaged paper plates with with pictures of food from magazines.
Whilst doing so they were able to identify foods and talk about if they had tried them and enjoyed them.
We spoke about making healthy choices.

We box modelled some of our favourite foods.
The children suggested we made a honeycomb chocolate bar, a lemon drizzle cake, a strawberry cake with cream and a fried egg.

We enjoyed our sensory path last week so much that we thought of a way to extend the activity. We taped bubble wrap onto the ground in the garden and cycled along it on our bikes and trikes.
We had to listen carefully for the bubbles popping.
POP ! POP ! POP !

We did a painting activity with vegetables.
The children named the vegetables - We had mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, celery and leek.
We experimented with different ways of making marks on our paper - dabbing, wiping, stamping and rolling.
It was lots of fun exploring different techniques.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week.
