Week commencing 28th September 2026 - Acorns 25.
Hello and welcome to our blog post.
We hope you enjoy reading about our week.
We have had so many lovely conversations about the places that we each call home.
We have learnt that homes can come in all shapes and sizes and have explored houses, flats, bungalows, cottages and many more.
We have encouraged the children to talk about their own homes and the people they live with.
Our homes and families all look different but from the sounds of it they are all filled with happiness, love and fun.
We went for a lovely walk around the village to look at different types of homes.
We stopped to look at the houses that are for sale.
"I will live there when I am 7."
"That one has got a big tree there."

We have introduced vocabulary like Semi-Detached, Terraced and Bungalow.
We made a sensory footpath using crinkled paper and bubble wrap. The children walked along the path noticing the different textures under their feet.

We box modelled a mud hut in the garden together.
We used our hands to smear on the paint and then we added pinecones, leaves and lots of mud - it was great fun.

The children helped Mrs Finney to drill together a new bed for our home corner.
Brilliant team work !

We had fun doing a painting activity with potatoes.
The potatoes were cut into shapes for us to print with.

The children made house shaped shortbread with Mrs Neve – the children followed a recipe, weighed out ingredients, rolled out the dough and cut out the shapes they needed.

We spent lots of time outside again this week enjoying the glorious weather.
Here are a selection of photos ....

Mrs Creasey brought in her Giant African Land Snails - They are called Doris and Doris.
The children were fascinated by them and watched carefully as they munched on lettuce.
Some children even chose to hold them.

We hope you have enjoyed a little peak into our week at The Acorns and we look forward to your comments.
Thank you for taking the time to read our blog.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs Franks and The Acorns Team.

What a great week! X
