Week commencing 25th February 2019 - Lindfield
Welcome back :)
We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful half term break.
The children have been excited to share stories about the adventures they shared with you over the holiday and it certainly sounds like lots of fun was had by all.
This week we have been enjoying the warmer weather.
We have spent a lot of time outside and have been searching for signs that the new season is upon us.
We found that things are beginning to grow in The Acorns garden.
Tiny little buds are appearing and we can't wait to watch them grow and blossom into pretty flowers.
We have talked about the things that we would like to plant and grow in our digging spot.
"Do you remember that massive cucumber? Lets grow one of those again."
"Last time I did grow strawberries with my Grandad."
If we have any parents or grandparents who would like to give us some gardening tips we would greatly appreciate it.
We have been looking at Technology this week.
Normally during Technology week (only) we give the children the opportunity to use ipads and tablets but due to the recent Momo Challenge that has been well documented in the media we decided against it this time and thought that we would show the children other types of technology instead.
Mrs Franks is interested to know how many of the children use tablets at home?
Technology is all around us - Telephones, Televisions, Mobile phones, Microwaves, Kettles, Food Processors, Lap Tops, Alexa, Printers, Cameras .... The list is endless.
Look around you right now ... How many different types of technology can you see?
Many of the children told us about how they use an Alexa at home and each morning we were treated to a weather report from Joshua.
"It is sunny today with highs of 17 and lows of 13."
We enjoyed lots of craft time this week.
We made some beautiful daffodil pictures which are hanging up in the nursery for everyone to see.
We did some free collage - using tissue paper, coloured sticks and lots of glue and sparkles.
We made some playdough - Ada chose the colour this time. Bright yellow !
This week was also fancy dress week. We had some really great costumes.
Belle, Superheros, Tinkerbell, Spiderman ... Thank you to everyone who took part.
There will be an opportunity to dress up again next week when we celebrate World Book Day on Thursday.
Children are invited to dress up as their favourite character for the day.
We will have lots of fun book themed activities for everyone to enjoy.
We had a surprise visit from an environmental health inspector this week and we are pleased to announce that we received a 5 star rating.
Well Done Team Acorns!
Felix the bear is with Jesse this week and we are excited to see what he gets up to on his return.
