Welcome Back from Lindfield. Week commencing 6th September 2021

Welcome back to The Acorns Everyone.

We are so excited to be back after the long summer break, it has been such a joy to see how the children have grown and developed over the holidays.

This week has been all about settling into our new routines, making new friends and forming bonds with each other.

We have welcomed some new children this term and hope that you will join us making our new families feel welcome.

We also welcomed Miss Netley to the staff team.

Miss Netley will be working at both Lindfield and Westmeston.

The children have been amazing this week, everyone appeared to be happy and excited to return to The Acorns and we have all had lots of fun together.

We played games, read stories, sang songs, experimented with instruments, built towers and much much more.

Our project for this half term is ‘All about me’

The children created self-portraits this week.

We looked carefully in the mirror and recognised similarities and differences from others.

“I got brown hair and you got yellow hair.”

“My nose is under my eyes.”

“I did get blue eyes.”

“I have a big smile.”

We have spent a lot of time in the garden this week, the weather has been glorious!

We had the water tray out filled with nice cold water to help keep the children cool on the extra hot days.

The teachers added in some cloths and bubbles. The children helped to clean the toys that have been packed away during the summer holidays.

“I need more bubbles.”

“Oooops … I got all wetted.”

We loved helping.

It wasn’t long before the toys had dried in the warm sunshine. We talked about how the small puddles of water would soon disappear.

We have enjoyed climbing, sliding, see-sawing and making mud cakes this week.

Here are a few photos from our garden times.

Percy brought something special in from home to show and share with his friends.

He had grown this cucumber in his green house.

Thank You for sharing it with us Percy.

Miss Sargent celebrated her birthday on Friday and shared some yummy cakes with everyone. What a treat!

Happy Birthday!

We hope you have enjoyed reading about our week.

Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to more fun, games, laughter and learning next week.

The theme next week is 'Emotions'

Our reading scheme begins again too.

If you are interested in your child joining the reading scheme, please speak to either Mrs Franks @ Lindfield or Mrs Spencer @ Westmeston.
