Hello and welcome to our blog post.
We hope you enjoy reading about our week at The Acorns.
This week we have been busy in the garden preparing the ground and our pots for planting.

We have been filling pots up with soil and weeding our digging areas to get them ready for new plants and seeds next week.

We have been delighted to see the sunshine this week and enjoyed lots of time outdoors.
At 59 we did a yoga class outside – We each had a spot to stand on and we practiced some yoga poses. Many of the children suggested poses they were familiar with from home.

We were all quite wobbly and wiggly but really enjoyed it.
We used the spots to sit on afterwards to tune into our senses. What could we hear, feel and smell in the garden.
We sat with our eyes closed for a minute and took big deep breathes.

“I can feel the wind on my cheeks”
“I think I can smell bonfire.”
“I can hear the birds.”
“I can hear a plane.”
“I can hear a woodlouse walking.”
It was a lovely activity to help calm us down and to encourage us to be aware of our surroundings and to notice the beauty of being outdoors.
Of course, we did lots of bug hunting. We found worms, centipedes, woodlouse, ladybirds and quite a few caterpillars.

At 25 this week the children celebrated Earth Day.
They all helped to make batches of coloured playdough and used the dough to mould their own Planet Earth to take home.

Blue dough to represent the sea and Green for the land.
The children enjoyed doing some observational paintings of Tulips.

Mrs Finney helped them to name the different parts of the flower and they talked about the difference between pollen and nectar.
We also celebrated St Georges day – Making a giant England flag on the tough tray with shaving foam and dyed pasta.

Here are a selection of other photos from our week.

We have had so much fun this week and we are looking forward to lots more next week.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you for taking the time to read our blog. As always, we look forward to your comments.
