Week commencing 16th September 2024 - Acorns25

Welcome to our blog post.

We hope you enjoy reading about our week at The Acorns 25.

This week our focus has been on ‘Our Family’

We enjoyed reading a book together called  ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’

We talked about Sophie’s family from the story.

How many people were in her family, what their names were and what they do.

We talked about their house and what it is made of.

We then made our own versions of houses from Lego and Duplo blocks and added figures to represent family members.

We painted something together throughout the week – It’s a huge tree that will become The Acorns Family Tree.

We talked about the different parts of the tree and the children carefully painted the branches and trunk.

The tree is displayed in the entrance of the nursery for you all to see.

If you haven't brought/emailed in a photo and would like to be added then please bring one in next week.

We would love to have photos of everyone.

Some of the older children did an adult supported maths activity with Mrs Finney.

They counted their family members and matched their answer to a written numeral.

They then made a bar chart to see how many people live in their house.

We have had lots of fun outside enjoying the sunshine – its been a glorious week.

We did a fun activity on Friday with Mrs Neve.

We drew around some of the children and they told us about their body parts.

"I've got size 3 clothes because I am 3"

We labelled their pictures together and they got to take their life size picture home with them.

It has been a great week with lots of discussions about our families. We have made comparisons and noted our differences and similarities.

"I have a brother too."

"My brother is bigger."
