Maths has been a focus for us this week at Westmeston, specifically size and shape. We looked at different shaped blocks and tried to match them with their outlines. An even bigger challenge was to put shapes together to match a larger outline. We did lots of talking about the different shapes we could see. We also had fun lining ourselves up in size order. Do you think we got it right? Playing dominoes helped us to practise matching numbers to amounts of objects. Outside we
This week we have been thinking about keeping healthy. We thought about different things that are important to our health - activity, good food, water, keeping clean and being aware of our feelings. On Tuesday, we used fruit and vegetables to create different patterns with paint. We noticed how the different fruit and vegetables made interesting patterns and shapes. We also enjoyed cleaning the fruit and vegetables, although we didn't fancy eating it afterwards! We all caught
What a wonderful week! Thank you to everyone who came along to support our open day on Sunday.
The sun was shining and a great time was had by all. The children were so excited to have you here and to be able to show you the wonderful garden we have here at The Acorns. This week we have been focusing on health and self-care, we have been learning a lot about our bodies and the importance of making healthy choices and about the effects of exercise. We have spent a lot of ti
We have been busy making and creating this week. We used pegs and sheets to make dens on Tuesday. We worked hard and had to be resilient to make the pegs and sheets stay where we wanted them. Pinching the pegs onto the rope was good for our fine motor skills and we had to really concentrate. We also discovered that it was fun to put pegs on Mrs Spencer's and Mrs Tubb's jumpers! We were pleased with our finished den and played lots of imaginary games in it. We used our creativ
Even though we were only at Westmeston for three days this week, we managed to fit in lots of fun and adventure. Our new puppet friends were very popular. They joined us in lots of imaginary games and we kept them well fed! We have found a new favourite spot for digging. We like to use all sorts of sticks and tools to dig with. Again, we have really used our imagination whilst playing - it's been a building site, a moon crater, home to a mole family and even a musical stage!
Our traditional story at the moment is The Elves and The Shoemaker – We have read the book each day and have enjoyed crafts and role play to support the story. On Monday we decorated and laced our own shoe. We used colouring pencils to colour in the shoe, used a hole punch to make holes so we could then thread our string through. We practised tying the laces of our shoe – it was really tricky but we concentrated and tried hard. We enjoyed time in the garden and had lots of fu
