Week commencing 3rd October 2016 - Lindfield

Understanding the world - People and Communities.

This week we have been learning about the people in our local community. On Monday, a group of children went out for a lovely walk into the village. They saw the post van, visited the bakery and looked in all of the shop windows. We have role played hairdressers, train drivers, farmers, police officers and many other occupations. The teachers wonder what we will do when we get older.

We had a pottery class on Tuesday where we made some wonderful sculptures using clay.

The clay was really cold and we had to use our hands to warm it up.

We painted our models and Jane has taken them away to put them in a special oven called a Kiln.

We had a very special visitor on Wednesday - The lollipop lady came to see us and taught us about road safety. It was very exciting. She was dressed in a bright yellow coat that had special reflectors on it. We made our own lollipops to play with too. We talked a lot about our families and the people who are special to us, some children brought in photos to share at circle time.

The weather has been kind and we have managed to play in the sunshine every day.

We practised crossing the road using the lollipop signs we had made.
