What a busy week we have had! The weather has been lovely but we have had to wrap up warm. We have tried hard to put on our coats, wet weathers, shoes, slippers and wellies by ourselves, trying hard to make sure we put things back in our bags or on our chairs when we have finished. We have only lost a few things this week! Our growing independence with dressing and undressing was helped along by a wonderful array of dressing up clothes inside. We did find, however, that
What a fabulous week! On Monday morning we got creative and started with our Christmas crafts. We made some decorations and some pictures to hang up around the nursery. The children enjoyed potato printing. We cut the potatoes into holly leaf shapes and then used our fingers to paint some berries onto our pictures. Some of the children went for a lovely long walk. They walked through the village to the park at the common. “We saw the ducks in the pond but not the crocodile h
This week we have we have been exploring in the woods and leaves, jumping in puddles and thinking about Christmas! We have started to practise the Christmas CD ready for the concert. It is so much fun, we can’t wait. They are available to buy at £10 each at both settings. We have made hedgehogs out of bread. We did lots of mixing, folding, kneading, rolling, pinching and shaping. We talked about how the yeast makes the bread grow. We finished off by snipping the back of the
On Monday we enjoyed lots of time in the garden – it was a cold, chilly day but we wrapped up in our warm coats and boots. All of the leaves are falling from the trees and we had lots of fun using brooms and dustpans to collect them into a big tub. The leaves were dry and crunchy. “It’s Autumn now and next it will be Winter and then it will be Spring and then it will be Summer and then the flowers will grow.” We had some special books to look at while we were in the garden.
We hope that you had a lovely time at bonfire and fireworks celebrations over the weekend. We loved hearing about all of your stories and experiences! This week we have been talking how we feel and how our actions may affect others. This led us nicely to us talking about Remembrance Day and why people are wearing poppies. We listened to a poem about poppies that was written a very long time ago called “In Flanders Fields” by John McRae which sparked many interesting convers
Welcome back everybody to the final run up to Christmas. We have had such a lovely start to the week with the grounds full of crunchy fallen leaves. We have been ploughing through them with our bikes and scooters and sweeping them with our witchy brooms. We have had a spooky Halloween with witches, dinosaurs, ghosts and lions! We have followed spooky trails. We found strange but interesting objects hidden all over the place. There were eyeballs, bones and spiders just wait
Welcome to this week blog. We have been super busy this week and have enjoyed Halloween and Bonfire celebrations. At the beginning of the week the children were arriving in all sorts of wonderful costumes. We had witches and wizards and even a very hairy scary werewolf. We enjoyed dressing up and the children teamed up to play tricks on the teachers. They pretended to all be asleep and then jumped up to frighten us. “BOO!” We carved a pumpkin. We were amazed at how many seeds
