This week we focused on Physical Development. On Monday morning some children went out for a lovely long walk, they went through the village to the park where they had great fun practising for sports day. They joined in with running races and relay races. The children spoke about the importance of physical activity and exercise and also the importance of rest.

Our focus of the week was My Understanding of the World – The World and the letter of the week was Gg for grass! It was very hot during the first part of the week with a thunderstorm and a little bit of rain on Thursday. It sent us scurrying for our jackets only to discover that some of us didn’t have one! On Monday a group of children went out for a walk – they stopped and stared at the world around them and spent time looking at leaves, trees, cars passing by and house numbers. They enjoyed some time at the Pickers Green play park, exploring the apparatus and play equipment. The children who stayed at The Acorns did some baking with Mrs Davies. This week we have been focusing on Expressive Arts and Design – Media and Materials. We have offered many opportunities for the children to express themselves through art activities, construction and design. On Monday some of the children went for a lovely long walk, they walked through the high street and onto the common. Mrs Booth had packed a special activity for them. We have had a beautiful week of sunshine. With this week’s focus on EAD – Using Media and Material we have been using clay, painting, drawing and taking lots of photos. With Father's Day coming up on Sunday we talked about why our Daddies are special. It was so lovely when John said “I love my Daddy because we chat.” Some of us couldn't think of one special thing because our Daddies are special in so many ways. Welcome back everybody! It's great to see you all after the break. Our focus this week has been on Literacy - Reading and we have brought in our favourite books to read. We have had books about all sorts of things like bodies and trucks. Our traditional story this week was Room on the Broom which we all love and some of us know it off by heart. We hope you all had a lovely half term break and it was great to see so many of you at Village Day. The children looked amazing in their costumes and Darcy & Jenny had done a great job of decorating the float. It was shiny and sparkly. It was very exciting to ride in the trailer and to wave to all the people who lined the streets. We were very pleased because we came second and won a rosette. Mrs Irwin was so happy!
