Physical Development – Health and Self Care We had lots of practise this week at putting on our coats and doing up zips and buttons. Some of us put our wellies and shoes on the wrong feet and some of us forgot to put them on at altogether and got soggy socks!
We talked about going to the dentist and drinking water as a way to keep healthy. We ate lots of fruit this week. Every day we cooked. On Monday we made currant buns. On Tuesday and Wednesday we made jam tarts with
Physical Development – Health and Self-Care We have had a great week learning how to keep ourselves healthy. We know to wash our hands using lots of bubbly soap to get rid of the germs that could give us poorly tummies. Miss Cheyne taught us a hand washing song. Can we sing it to you? We have been helping to prepare our own healthy snacks each day, cutting up soft fruit and spreading our own crackers. We have really enjoyed doing this and would love to help at home.
Literacy – Reading We had all sorts of weather this week! It was very chilly at times with a little bit of rain!
This week we read The Gingerbread Man. We acted out the story and did lots of running like gingerbread men when we were outside. This inspired our role play as well as we baked imaginary gingerbread and pretended to be the animals. We brought in special books that we enjoy reading at home. Some of us were very proud to bring in our Nursery Books and we told our fr
Literacy – Reading. What a wonderful week, it’s been so busy here at The Acorns. On Monday the children enjoyed a lovely long walk, they used leaves and twigs to make letters on the ground. They looked all around for letters that they could recognise and read lots of signs on the way to the park. On Tuesday morning we all enjoyed a pottery session with Jane, we made little robins and painted red breasts on our models. Jane told us to look out for real robins in our gardens a
PSED – Managing Feelings and Behaviour We were all very excited this week with lots of stories about fireworks and bonfires. Some of us said we were a bit worried about the loud bangs though. On Monday we all helped our teachers to sweep the entrance to the car park because the leaves were so slippery and we played hide and seek among the piles of leaves that this created. It was great fun jumping into the piles of leaves and we disappeared from view at times! It made a chang
Personal, Social and Emotional Development. WOW! The weather has turned frosty and cold but it hasn’t stopped us from having lots of fun at The Acorns. On Monday some of the children went out for a walk whilst others stayed in for a craft session.
The children who went out had to wrap up in warm coats and hats as it was frosty and cold.
They went on a search for poppies and found lots on the houses and cars and nearly everyone who walked past was wearing one too.
Communication and Language - Understanding. We hope that you had a lovely half term. This week was of course, Halloween Week and there was a spot of pumpkin carving going on at Westmeston. We are keeping the seeds for planting in our garden next year and to use in craft activities.
We were lucky with the weather, starting off with a spooky fog that turned into frost as the week went on. We had clouds and bright sunshine and we definitely needed our coats and hats on to keep
Communication and Language – Understanding.
The week started with lots of stories about the adventures that the children have been on during half term. Monday - Some of the children went for a lovely walk. They had lots of fun making shadows on the ground. They made Halloween ghosts to hang from the trees outside. The other children had a craft morning, making their own ghosts and pumpkin pictures.
We carved a pumpkin, saving all the seeds for craft activities later. It w
